Lighting Quotations Specialist
Reports To: Lighting Department Manager
Location: Addison, IL

SUMMARY
Responsible for quoting lighting material from plans and specifications on construction projects. This may also include building a lighting Bills of Material from a take-off & schedules or working with a customer to suggest lighting products on design-build projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Taking a lighting Bills of Material for a construction project and creating a complete and professional lighting quotation using specified software.
  • Interact with electrical contractors, architects, engineers, and owners to suggest lighting products to be used on all types of construction projects.
  • Take off lighting Bills of Material from take-offs and schedules.
  • Negotiate pricing with lighting manufacturers and customers.
  • Act as source of technical lighting expertise within the branch.
  • Collect and analyze lighting quotations data, enter into Job Management program; determine patterns of success or failure. Measure by product type, manufacturer, bid amounts, and customers.
  • Maintain a follow-up system on quotations; quote bids and follows up with sales.
  • Responsible for follow up on quotations and utilize Job Management to manage the process.
  • Prepare accurate and timely bids for customers from the information provided for their specific job or project through the use of TPM.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS
Lighting product knowledge, strong Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook software skills. Must have the ability to work quickly and accurately under severe time constraints and pressure. Must also possess interpersonal skills, organizational skills, be a self starter, detail oriented, and have the ability to communicate (verbally and written).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from small groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to perform math functions representative of the job such as; addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and metric scales; computing rate, ratio, and percentages; calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and proportions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram form.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Two-year trade school or four-year college degree strongly recommended with a minimum experience of four years lighting products and applications knowledge as well as an understanding of the bid process plus a background in wholesale electrical distribution or electrical contracting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Typical environments include offices, light industrial, commercial, and utility. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
